2019-20 (Senior): Named to the A-10 All-Academic Team for a third straight year • Took bronze and set the school record in the 1,650 free (15:35.15) at the A-10 Championships • Reached the A finals in three other events, placing fourth in the 400 IM (3:55.69) and fifth in the 500 free (4:27.17) • Helped the 800 free relay take fourth (6:34.88) • Took third in the 400 IM at the Bucknell Invitational (4:02.42) and fourth in the 1,650 free (16:00.90) • Won the 200 IM against VMI and William & Mary • Won the 1,000 free against Gardner-Webb and Old Dominion and the 500 free against Gardner-Webb.

2018-19 (Junior): Turned in a stellar season, resulting in multiple Atlantic 10 Conference honors and notable finishes • Earned A-10 All-Academic honors for the second time • Was twice named A-10 Performer of the Week, including Oct. 2 after winning the 1,000 freestyle and 200 IM against Queens and on Nov. 6 after winning the 500 free and the 200 IM, the latter of which clinched the team victory over Old Dominion • Was part of the Wildcats’ school-record 800 free relay team that swam a 6:32.13 and finished second at A-10s • Swam to fourth in the conference in the 400 IM, with a time of 3:55.02, which also pushed him to second on the program’s all-time performers list • Also at A-10s, finished sixth in the 500 free (4:28.13) to move to fifth on the program list and was a B finalist in the 200 breaststroke.

2017-18 (Sophomore): Competed in all nine meets, competing in distance freestyle, individual medley, and breaststroke events… won the bronze medal in the 400 IM at the A-10 Championships, ranking second on the all-time performance list (3:56.36)… took fifth overall in the 1650 freestyle, replacing himself for seventh all-time at the 1000m split (9:35.77)… finished sixth at A-10s in the 500 freestyle, now ranking fifth all-time (4:28.89)… took home a pair of firsts in the 200 and 400 IMs at Gardner-Webb dual… turned in trio of second-place finishes in William & Mary dual (1000 free, 200 breast, 400 IM)… won both the 500 and 1000 free in UNCW dual, where his 1000 time was the ninth-best in program history (9:44.31)… registered four Top 10 finishes at TPI Invite…. Won all three individual events in Georgetown Dual (1000 free, 100/200 breast)… named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic team… also earned the team Billy Ray High Point Award.

2016-17 (Freshman): Competed in eight meets, specializing in distance free, breaststroke, and IM… Twice named Men’s Rookie of the Week (1/17, 11/1)… garnered three firsts in Georgetown dual… holds second-best mark in school history in the 400 IM that he set at the A-10 Championships (3:56.96)… ranked seventh all-time in 1,000 free after the Queens Tri (9:36.33)… ranks third in the 1,650 freestyle after clocking in at 15:46.71 at the A-10 Championships… ranked fourth in the 200 breast after a time of 2:02.77 in the A-10 Championships.

Before Davidson: Four-year letterwinner at the Randolph School, where he served as captain for two seasons (2014-15, 2015-16) as well as being named Team MVP (2014-15, 2015-16) and to the All-Tennessee Valley Team (2014-15, 2015-16)... Was ranked first in the AHSAA in the 200 breast and finished third at the AHSAA State Meet in the 100 breast his senior year and led the Raiders to a AHSAA 1A-5A State Runner-Up title... Finished in the Top 20 in the nation in the 1000 free at the NCSA Junior Nationals.... Swam club for the Huntsville Swim Association where he was a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, a winter Junior Nationals Qualifier, and a member of the Southern Zone Open Water Championship team... swam nine different events at the Junior National level... also played basketball his freshman year.

Personal: Son of Mark and Leslie Cooper... Born March 5, 1998 as Matthew Crossan Cooper... Has two brothers, Cole and Curtis... grandfather, Tommy Limbaugh, played baseball at the University of Alabama...  plans to study mathematics.
