DAVIDSON, N.C. — Four different Wildcats pushed their singles win streaks to two in a row and Davidson continued its dominance in the series vs. The Citadel by taking a 5-2 decision at home Saturday afternoon on the Davidson Tennis Courts.
The Wildcats won their 11th straight in the all-time series vs. the Bulldogs (7-16) and improved to 22-5 all-time, as they moved to 5-6 on the season. Davidson also ran its home record to 4-3 on the year.
For the second consecutive match, and third time this year, Davidson took all three doubles spots to grab the early 1-0 team lead. The pair of J.B. Gough and Shamael Chaudhry won their fourth match of the season with a 6-3 win at No. 1.
The senior tandem of Evan Watkins and Alex Howard earned their third straight win after a 7-5 decision at No. 2, and Artem Khrapko and Zack Zapatero sealed up the team point with a convincing 6-1 victory at No. 3.
In singles action, Chaudhry, Khrapko, David Hager and Jack Riazzi each won their second straight matches to secure the team win. Chaudhry picked up a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 1, his sixth of the year, while fellow classmate Khrapko nailed down a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2.
Hager sealed up his team-leading seventh win with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at No. 4 and Riazzi ran his singles mark to 6-4 with a 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 6.
Davidson will hit the road next for a March 15 match at Elon, with match time set for 3 p.m.
