ELON, N.C. — Sophomore David Hager won his season-high third straight singles match, but Davidson fell on the road to its former Southern Conference-foe Elon by the score of 6-1 Tuesday afternoon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Davidson fell to 5-7 on the season, while the Phoenix won their third straight to move to 10-4.

Hager scored the lone team point for the Wildcats, winning his team-leading eighth singles match with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 4. He moved to 6-3 at that position.

Elon took the first team point with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles by the scores of 6-1 and 6-2. The pair of Shamael Chaudhry and J.B. Gough did win their third match in a row with a 6-3 win at the top spot, moving their record to a team-best 5-2.

Chaudhry (2-6, 6-7 (4)), Artem Khrapko (3-6, 3-6) and Jack Riazzi (4-6, 4-6) each saw their personal two-match win streaks come to an end in singles play.

Davidson returns to Atlantic 10 play, traveling to Philadelphia, Pa., to face Duquesne & Saint Joseph's, March 19-20.
