DAVIDSON, N.C.  — Senior Lucy Sexton scored a season-high four goals and Davidson won its second straight with an impressive 12-7 win over rival High Point Friday night inside Richardson Stadium in women's lacrosse.

The Wildcats halted their four-game losing streak in the series vs. the Panthers (3-3) by using a 4-0 run in the middle of the second half to break up a close game and move their record to 3-2 on the season.

Sexton scored one of the four goals during the run, as she was one of three players to finish with multiple goals on the night.

Christine Molinari recorded a season-high tying four points on a personal-best two goals and two assists to give her a team-high 16 points. Annie Brockett netted her first two goals of the year and added an assist. Both Molinari and Brockett registered a point during the game-changing run.

Up by one after High Point's Samantha Brown made it 6-5, Davidson got goals from Sophia Sgroi, Sexton, Nicole Pettiglio and Brockett from 18:42 to the 10:27 mark in the second half to pull away.

Brown got the Panthers within three at 10-7 with just over six minutes to go. Brockett answered right back for the 'Cats with an empty net goal and Emma Sissman capped off the win with her team-leading 13th goal off a pass from Brockett with 4:19 left.

Brown matched Sexton for game high honors with four goals for High Point. Samantha Herman scored twice and Leah Pace added a goal.

A reverse of the past two games, Davidson this time was the first team to jump out to a lead. Molinari opened the scoring six minutes in and Sexton followed with back-to-back scores a little later to make it 3-0.

The senior got a hat trick in the first half when she made it 4-1 off a pass from Jean Atkinson with under seven and a half minutes to play. High Point got to within one before halftime, scoring a goal with just 19 seconds left.

Molinari and Sarah Kopp put the first two goals in for the Wildcats in the second half, but the Panthers answered each one to stay within a goal before the 'Cats started to pull away.

Maddy Sivilli had a big game on defense, recording a career-best five groundballs and causing two of Davidson's six turnovers.

Between the pipes, Rose Woolson improved to 3-1 on the season by getting eight saves to go with four groundballs. HPU's Molly Andrews finished with five saves and two groundballs.

Davidson had a 22-21 edge on shots. High Point picked up 16 groundballs and 12 draw controls compared the 'Cats numbers of 13 and eight in both categories.

The Wildcats wrap up three games in an eight-day span by hosting Lehigh next Tuesday, March 15, at 6:30 p.m.
