The Opening Draw Control...
Davidson (2-2, 0-0 A-10) plays High Point (3-2) at 6 p.m. Friday night. The 'Cats' are currenlty on a seven-game homestand, which started Feb. 28 vs. Winthrop and is the longest since a six-game stretch at the beginning of the 2012 season.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting...
The series dates back to 2011, with Davidson trailing the Panthers 7-1. It is seeking to halt a four-game losing streak. The two schools met twice in the Big South final in 2013 and 2014 when Davidson was a member, with High Point winning both matchups.
The last meeting occured last year at High Point, a 9-7 HPU win. Davidson had come back from a 7-4 deficit with a 3-0 run only to see the Panthers score goals at the 10:02 and 4:34 marks for the final scores of the game.
Lucy Sexton scored three goals to pace Davidson and Emily Rademacher added a pair of goals.
Record Watch...
Emma Sissman moved up to seventh all-time in career goals after a four-goal outing to opening the season against Virginia Tech. She currently has 109 goals and needs 12 more to pass Haley Cook (2007-10) for sixth. In addition, Sissman is six points (122) away from moving into the top-10 all-time, passing Erin Doherty who has 127.
The senior is already the all-time leader for draw controls, reaching the 200-mark in a victory at Kennesaw State, Feb. 20. She currently has 209 draw controls.
Fellow senior Holly Thomas is 14 caused turnovers away from reaching the top-10 all-time as she has 36 for her career.
Last Time Out...
DAVIDSON — Davidson shook off a sluggish first half by scoring seven goals in the second half and held on for an 8-7 comeback victory over Holy Cross Tuesday night. The Wildcats overcame a 4-1 halftime deficit.
It was a game that went down to the wire in the final 14 minutes. Emma Sissman tied it up at 6-6 with her second goal of the second half on a free-position score with 13:16 remaining. Davidson concluded its comeback by getting a goal from Christine Molinari with 5:05 left and then an empty net goal by Lucy Sexton four minutes later. It proved to be the game-winner as Holy Cross nearly forced overtime, scoring a goal with 33 seconds left before turning the ball over with five seconds remaining.
