Gibbs Named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Fresh off helping Davidson to wins over Missouri and Arizona State at the Tire Pros Invitational, Jack Gibbs has been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.
For the week, Gibbs averaged 23.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.7 steals, while going 26-of-32 (.813) at the charity stripe.
Following an 18-point performance in Davidson's setback to Clemson, the senior point guard concluded the tournament with 25 points against Missouri and 28 in the Wildcats' 68-60 win over Arizona State.
In addition to tying the tournament's three-game scoring record with 71 points, Gibbs finished 16-of-21 at the free-throw line, grabbed 6 rebounds and handed out 4 assists versus the Sun Devils.
For his performance in Orlando, Gibbs was named to the Tire Pros Invitational All-Tournament Team.
In all, Gibbs has been named Player of the Week nine times, which is the second most in school history behind Stephen Curry (16).
A year ago, the native of Westerville, Ohio, finished sixth nationally in scoring.
Davidson (3-1) will enjoy a five-day break before hosting cross-county rival Charlotte, Saturday at 4 p.m. inside John M. Belk Arena.
