The freshman earned the singles title with a straight-set 6-3, 6-0 victory.
Also competing in that same bracket was fellow classmate Samantha Armas, who finished the weekend with a 2-1 record. She won her first match, 7-5, 6-3, but then fell in a tough 7-6, 6-4 match to her Elon opponent in the quarterfinals. The Acworth, Ga., native wrapped up the weekend with a solid 6-3, 6-0 decision against ECU.
Four other Wildcats went 2-1 in singles action, led by Anna Catharine Feaster at the top singles bracket. The junior lost her first set to Marta Gonzalez of Georgia (6-3, 7-6), but regrouped to capture a 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 win vs. ECU and a 7-5, 6-1 triumph against her Western Carolina opponent.
