DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson began its 2017 spring women's tennis season with a strong victory over visiting Wofford, 7-0, and kept their win streak in the series alive as well Sunday afternoon on the courts inside the Knobloch Tennis Center.
The Wildcats (1-0) won their season opener for the first time since 2011 and earned their 17th straight victory in the all-time series vs. Wofford. They ran their all-time record to 24-2 in the series.
The Wildcats opened the match by scoring doubles wins at No. 1 and 3. The top team of Megan Scholvinck and first-year Samantha Armas sealed the win by taking a 7-5 tie-breaker victory. At No. 3, the pair of Ava Todd and Alexandra Abele blanked the Terriers, 6-0.
