Aldridge and Gudmundsson Impress in Red/Black Scrimmage

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Peyton Aldridge (16) and Jon Axel Gudmundsson (14) combined for 30 points on 11-of-14 shooting to lead the way in Davidson's annual Red/Black Scrimmage on Saturday afternoon inside John M. Belk Arena.

Junior Jordan Watkins also scored in double figures with 11 points for the Black team, which defeated the Red team, 42-35.

Both teams shot 50 percent from the floor, while the Black team hit 10-of-18 3-pointers, including three from Watkins.

In addition to going 6-of-6 from the floor with a pair of treys, Aldridge, a preseason all-conference selection, grabbed five rebounds in the 20-minute scrimmage.

Despite the setback, the Red team finished with 11 assists on 13 field goals.

Davidson will host Belmont Abbey in an exhibition contest, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. before opening the 2016-17 season, Nov. 12, with an 8 p.m. tip against former Southern Conference rival Appalachian State on McKillop Court.
