DAVIDSON, N.C. – Riding the longest home-unbeaten streak in school history, Davidson will continue its four-game homestand Tuesday evening when Duke visits Alumni Stadium for a 7 p.m. kick-off.
"There is no denying that Duke is an especially intriguing opponent and of course we share a similar focus on premier academics," said Davidson head coach Matt Spear. "We have a rich history of many great matches, with the last two games going to overtime. But the match on Tuesday night is clearly unique. I look forward to the intensity and big plays these games always produce."
Unbeaten in their last 15 (10-0-5) on 1992 Team Field dating back to the 2013 campaign, the Wildcats enter 3-3-2 on the season following a 2-1 win over USC Upstate.
"The crowd will be big and excited for sure. I encourage the student body, alumni and local fans to show up early and to enjoy the show."
Senior Valeriy Sviderskiy gave Davidson a 1-0 lead with his 19th career goal midway through the first half and fellow forward Alec Rotunda scored the eventual game-winner in the 79th minute.
Sviderskiy (3 Goals, 1 Assist) and Rotunda (2 Goals, 1 Assist) continue to lead the Wildcats in goals and total points.
This marks the 48th all-time meeting between Davidson and Duke. Despite trailing in the series, the Wildcats knocked off the Blue Devils a year ago in Durham, 2-1.
Davidson is unbeaten (3-0-1) in its last four contests against ACC foes.
Duke, which climbed into the National Polls after starting the season 4-0-1, including a 2-2 (2OT) draw with then-No. 5 Virginia, has dropped three straight and comes in 4-3-1.
The Blue Devils, who are averaging 1.88 goals per game, are led by Jeremy Ebobisse's 5 goals, 2 assists and 12 total points.
