DAVIDSON, N.C. – In addition to seven home dates, Davidson's 2015-16 non-conference schedule will feature games against North Carolina, Pittsburgh and California, as announced by head coach Bob McKillop Tuesday.
"Our 2015-16 schedule will again put us on the national stage as we will have the opportunity to play teams from almost every region of the country," said McKillop, who is entering his 27th season at the helm. "Our non-conference schedule will present us with many new opponents, several Top-20 programs, a longtime rival from the Southern Conference, and a chance to play in Madison Square Garden. Exciting times are ahead for Davidson players and fans."
Following their lone exhibition against in-state foe Lenoir-Rhyne (Nov. 7), the Wildcats will tip-off the campaign Saturday, Nov. 14 against UCF at John M. Belk Arena.
Davidson's four-game homestand to begin the season will also include former conference rival College of Charleston (Nov. 21), Mercer (Nov. 23) and Denison University (Nov. 28).
On Dec. 1, the Wildcats will visit Halton Arena to take on cross-county rival Charlotte for the annual "Battle for the Hornets' Nest Trophy," which Davidson has claimed the last two years.
Five days later, the Wildcats will play their first of two ACC opponents when they head to Chapel Hill for a Sunday tilt with North Carolina on ESPNU.
In all, 14 of the Wildcats' regular season contests will be televised.
Davidson will be one of five teams from across the nation to compete in the Gotham Classic. The Wildcats and Pittsburgh will host three games on campus before advancing to Madison Square Garden against each other on Dec. 20.
As part of the event, which began in 2012, Davidson will entertain Eastern Washington (Dec. 9), Western Carolina (Dec. 12) and Morehead State (Dec. 23).
A trip to the West Coast for a Dec. 28 meeting with California will conclude the non-conference portion of the Wildcats' schedule.
Atlantic 10 Conference Schedule
The Wildcats, who captured the regular season title in their inaugural A-10 campaign, will face each of the 13 conference opponents during the 18-game league slate that consists of nine home and nine away games.
"The A-10 schedule will be ever challenging as the Conference is again stocked with talented players and teams," commented McKillop.
Davidson, which received its first-ever at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament a year ago, will play home/home series with Duquesne, George Mason, George Washington, Richmond and VCU.
The Wildcats will also host UMass (Jan. 16), La Salle (Feb. 10), Saint Joseph's (Feb. 20) and Rhode Island (Feb. 23), while traveling to St. Bonaventure (Jan. 2), Dayton (Jan. 12), Saint Louis (Jan. 20) and Fordham (Feb. 27).
The 2016 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship will be played March 9-13, 2016 at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
