DAVIDSON, N.C. — Playing its second-to-last match of the regular season, the Davidson women's tennis team scored a solid 4-1 win at home over their cross-county rival the Charlotte 49ers Friday afternoon on the Convington Tennis Courts.

The Wildcats stopped a two-match skid and ran their record to 11-8. They also halted a four-match losing streak in the series vs. the 49ers, improving to 17-12 all-time.

For the first time since March 29, Davidson opened the match with a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point. The pair of Ally Sexton and Anna Catharine Feaster led the way, netting their fourth straight win with an 8-5 decision at No. 2 doubles. The duo ran their record to 14-5 overall.

Ava Todd and Sarah Stein capped the doubles off with an 8-2 win at No. 3, their eighth win together on the season.

The 'Cats then captured three of the four singles matches that finished to seal up the win. Mixing their top three positions up in the lineup, Davidson used Feaster at No. 1 for the second this year. She prevailed with her second three-set victory of the season by the scores of 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. The freshman ran her record to 14-5, the second-most wins on the team.

Fellow classmate Todd moved up to No. 2 for the first time and scored a 7-6, 6-2 win to collect her 17th victory of the year to only two defeats.

Rounding out the top-three was junior Elaina Cummer, who played at No. 3 and came away with a 6-3, 6-4 decision. It was her ninth victory of the season and 26th for her career.

Davidson plays its final regular season match at home against Appalachian State tomorrow at 1 p.m.
