BREVARD, N.C. — The Davidson women's tennis team reached the double-digit win total on the season when they cruised to a 7-0 road win Sunday afternoon at Brevard College to cap off a two-match weekend.
Â
The Wildcats improved to 10-6 overall after their 2-0 weekend, hitting the double-figure mark in wins for the first time since 2010 when they went 15-8.
Â
Grabbing the early lead was Davidson with wins of 8-3, 8-2 and 8-0 at all three doubles spots. Ava Todd and Blake Nickles won their first match together at No. 3, while Anna Catharine Feaster and Ally Sexton won their team-leading 11th at No. 2.
Â
The freshmen pair of Todd and Feaster continued their winning streaks in singles action as the 'Cats won all six positions. Todd, a three-time Atlantic 10 weekly award winner, won her 15th straight with a solid 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 3. She ran her record to a team-best 15-1, including 4-0 at the No. 3 position.
Â
Feaster, who earlier this year had a five-match win streak, set a new season best with her sixth victory in a row. The freshman scored a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 and pushed her record 12-4 overall.
Â
Snapping a pair of personal losing streaks was Elaina Cummer and Jenna Brunner at No. 1 and 3, respectively. Cummer halted a two-match skid with a 6-4, 6-1 win for her eighth triumph of the season. Brunner also won her eighth match, giving up just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 4. The win snapped a three-match losing streak.
Â
Sexton made it a perfect day for herself with a strong 6-1, 6-0 win at N. 5, while junior Courtney McCray won her first collegiate singles match by scoring a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 6.
Â
Davidson stays on the road for a 4 p.m. match at UNCG, April 1.
