DAVIDSON, N.C. — Returning home after a season-long seven-game road trip to start the year, the Davidson women's basketball team will play host to a former Southern Conference foe in Western Carolina Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. at John M. Belk Arena.

Davidson (4-3) is 16-18 all-time in the program's 36 years in home openers (two years are incomplete) and are 6-4 in the last 10 years, including 3-2 under head coach Michele Savage. Last year, the Wildcats fell to Southern California.

OPENING TIP: Quick Hits ...
•Davidson is in its 37th season and reached the 400-win mark last year at Gardner-Webb.
•The 'Cats are in their second year in the Atlantic 10 after a 21-year run in the SoCon.
•The Wildcats were picked to finish 14th in the A-10 Coaches Preseason Poll.
•Davidson returns nine letterwinners and all five of its starters from last year's 5-25 team.
•Head coach Michele Savage is in her sixth year (83-84) and is 8-1 all-time vs. Western Carolina.

Last Game Out at Radford ...
•Davidson could not shake off a tough shooting day, falling to Radford Tuesday, 79-68, snapping its three-game winning streak.
•The 'Cats shot a season-low 33.8 percent, including just 4-of-22 from behind the arc.
Mackenzie Latt scored a career-high 23 points, while Hannah Early dropped in a season-best 18.
•Davidson was down just one, 63-62, with under six minutes to go in the 4th quarter, but missed its next seven straight shots to allow Radford to pull away. RU used a 16-6 run to finish it off.
•The Wildcats went a season-best 18-for-20 at the free throw, led by Latt's 9-for-10 showing.

Welcome to the 1,000-Point Club ...
•Dukes became the program's 18th player to reach 1,000 career points during the win over UNC Wilmington last Saturday.
•It marked the ninth time in the past 10 years that a Wildcat has reached 1,000 career points.

Early & Dukes Etching Names in the Wildcat Record Books ...
•Early all-time ranks 11th in points (1,139), fourth in total threes (177), fourth in three-point attempts, seventh in blocks (84), eighth in field goals attempted and 12th in field goals made.  
•Dukes is in the top-15 in points (1,016), sits in fifth and seventh, respectively, in free throws made and attempted, while ranking eighth in total rebounds with 598 and 11th in blocks (59).
 
Random Notes ...
•Davidson's 21-year run in the Southern Conference saw it go 203-164 all-time, win the program's first regular season title in 2011-12 and reach the championship game three times.
•The double-overtime win at High Point, Nov. 24, was the second-ever in program history and just the third time Davidson has gone to two extra periods in a game.
•Davidson opened the year on a seven-game road trip, the longest since an eight-game swing to open the 2009-10 season.
•Dukes was named the College Sports Madness Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, Nov. 30.
•Dukes has scored in double figures in five of the Wildcats' seven games this year.
•The senior ranks among the best in the Atlantic 10 so far- 1st in field goal percentage (.641, 5th in nation), 3rd in blocks per game (2.3) and 3rd in free throw percentage (.840).
•The Wildcats' defense has been solid, holding the opposite to 35.9 percent shooting and 61.6 points per game, ranking 3rd and 4th, respectively in the A-10.
•Davidson has out-rebounded the opposition in five of its seven games so far this year.
•This is the latest the 'Cats have held a home opener since facing Appalachian State, Dec. 7, 2009.

All-Time Series vs. Western Carolina ...
•The Wildcats lead the series 27-25 and are riding an eight-game win streak that dates back to 2011.
•The last meeting saw Davidson earn a 74-67 victory in the semis of the SoCon Tourney (3/9/14).
•Laura Murray went off for 25 points, getting 19 of them in the second half.

Scouting The Catamounts ...
•Western Carolina is 3-4 on the year after securing a 69-53 win last Sunday over Florida A&M at the Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Kennesaw State.
•Ace Easter tied her career-high with 23 points as WCU halted a four-game losing slide.
•The Catamounts ripped down a season-high 51 rebounds led by senior forward Brianne Mack's career-high 10 boards.
•Western Carolina has struggled in the third quarter this season, getting outscored 118-93.
•The Catamounts game at Davidson is the third of an eight-game road swing.
•Senior guard Lindsay Simpson has 739 career points and needs 261 more to reach the 1,000 point plateau.
•Easter and Raziyah Farrington are averaging 8.9 and 8.7 points a game, respectively, to pace the Catamounts' offense.
•WCU is averaging 61.1 points as a team, but allowing 65.3 a game to the opposition.
