RADFORD, Va.  — Despite getting a career-high 23 points from sophomore Mackenzie Latt, Davidson was unable to shake off its tough shooting day as it fell on the road to Radford, 79-68, Wednesday morning at the Dedmon Center for the Highlanders' Education Day in women's basketball.

The Wildcats saw their three-game win streak come to an end, falling to 4-3, while Radford moved to 3-2 and snapped a three-game skid in the all-time series.

Davidson, which finished the game shooting a season-low 33.8 percent (23-68) and just 4-of-22 from behind the arc, was down just one, 63-62, with 5:40 remaining after Latt scored seven straight points. The Wildcats though then went cold from the floor, missing its next seven shots in a five-minute span allowing Radford to pull away. RU ended the fourth quarter on a 16-6 run.

Latt nailed 7-of-12 shots from the floor and swished home a career-best 9-of-10 free throws to help Davidson to a season-high 18-for-20 showing at the line.

Hannah Early finished with a season-best 18 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and a block. Leading scorer Dakota Dukes (16.2 ppg) got into early foul trouble and never was able to get going, ending with six points and six rebounds.

Radford put five players in double figures and was helped out by its 51.8 percent shooting for the game, including 57.1 percent combined in the third and fourth quarters.

Jen Falconer had a team-high 15 points, followed by 14 each from Gaby Gilmore and Rachael Ross. Janayla White had 13 points, and Jayda Worthy finished with a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Behind Latt's eight points, Davidson held a 19-14 lead after the first quarter. The Wildcats used a 10-5 run to close the quarter.

Davidson then had the weather a hot-shooting Radford team in the next quarter. RU went on a 12-0 run to open the quarter, hitting two of its four three-balls for the quarter during the run to grab a 26-19 lead. The 'Cats got five straight points later from Early with under four minutes left in the quarter and kept within one or two points the rest of the way before heading into the break down 37-35.

The third quarter saw both teams score 17 points each, with Radford holding a slim two-point lead at 54-52.

For just the second time this year, Davidson was outrebounded, 41-35. The 'Cats scored 19 points off 17 Radford turnovers and picked up 15 second-chance points on their game-high 16 offensive rebounds.

Davidson returns home for its home opener, a 4 p.m. contest against Western Carolina this Saturday, Dec. 5.

GAME NOTES: This was the sixth meeting all-time between both teams … the 'Cats' seven-game road swing to start the year was the longest since an eight-game trip at the beginning of the 2009-10 campaign … Latt's 23-point outing was her first of the year reaching 20 points and second time for her career … Davidson fell to 10-6 against Big South teams since 2010-11, head coach Michele Savage's first year … the 'Cats' 4-2 start was its best since the 2007-08 through the first six games.
