DAVIDSON, N.C. — Riding a three-game winning streak, Davidson begins its final season in the Big South by opening conference play at home against Winthrop on Friday night under the lights at 7 p.m. in Richardson Stadium in women's lacrosse. The Wildcats move to the Atlantic 10 next year.
The Opening Draw Control
Davidson (4-5, 0-0 Big South), fresh off its third straight win Tuesday in a thrilling 10-9 decision vs. Old Dominion, begins its league play by hosting the Winthrop Eagles (3-7, 0-0 Big South) Friday night. The Wildcats are the reigning Big South Regular Season Champions after going undefeated in the league's inaugural season.
Game Promotion
The women's lacrosse team is encouraging fans to come out and wear teal color for the game as they are promoting Stand Up to Cancer for the contest. The team will be selling t-shirts over in the student union for $15 during the week to help promote the cause.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
This will be the second career meeting after Winthrop started its lacrosse program last year. Davidson won the first meeting a year ago, 11-5, to clinch the regular season Big South title. Emily Cooke set a program record with 77 points in a single season, getting four in the win and Alanna Parker had a career-high five goals to help pace the offense.

Record Watch: Career Assist Record Falls
Junior Emily Cooke broke yet another record, after setting a pair of single-season marks a year ago in points (87) and assists (55). She set the program's all-time assists mark, March 22, in Davidson's hom win vs. Elon. The attacker dished out a pair of assists to give her 15 on the year and a new Wildcat record of 78 for her career. She passed Linda Rothmund's mark of 77 set from 1996-99.
Cooke' team-leading 17 assists rank second in the Big South, while she is third on the team with 21 points behind Emma Sissman's 22 (21 on goals) and Ann Fucigna's 25 (16 gls., 9 asts.).
Weekly Honors
Freshman Katherine Rueger won the Wildcats' first Big South weekly award, taking home the Crons Brand Rookie of the Week, March 10. Senior tri-captain Paige Logan won the 'Cats' second weekly award a few weeks later, bringing home the Big South Defensive Player of the Week, March 24. Taking home her third career Big South weekly award was Ann Fucigna as she collected the Wildcats' first Big South Offensive Player of the Week, March 31.

DAVIDSON —Sophomore Emma Sissman scored four goals, including the game-winner with 7:34 left, and Davidson won its third in a row by taking home a 10-9 victory against Old Dominion Tuesday night.
The Wildcats held off a last two-minute effort by ODU to win the first matchup between both teams. The Monarchs had the ball twice in the last two minutes, including once in Davidson's zone, but the 'Cats' defense stepped up and forced a pair of turnovers to preserve the win.
Sissman led three 'Cats who had multiple goals with her four scores to push her season total to a team-best 21. Ann Fucigna continued her hot-scoring streak with five points on three goals and two assists. She has tallied 19 points in the last four games on 12 goals and seven assists. Emily Rademacher chipped in a pair of goals.

... WINTHROP — The Winthrop lacrosse team dropped a hard-fought contest 19-11 to the Jacksonville Dolphins last Saturday.
Winthrop and Jacksonville battled back and forth through the first six minutes, before JU went on a 4-0 run to grab a 6-2 lead. The Eagles cut the deficit to two, 7-5, with 10:35 lef tin the first half, but JU went on a game-changing 6-1 run to close the half for a 13-6 lead.
The second half played fairly even, with Winthrop scoring five goals to JU's six, but the Eagles never got closer than 13-8 with 25 minutes left.
For the Eagles, Logan McCarthy, Abigail Blevins, Danielle Ellis and Hayley Krause each tallied two goals, while Jesse Filyaw-Hiu earned her first start in goal and recorded seven saves.
