Burton-Akright Completes Competition at NCAA Zone Meet

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Davidson diver Kaliya Burton-Akright completed her collegiate career by taking 34th place in the 3-meter competition at the NCAA Zone B Diving meet at the Greensboro Aquatic Center Tuesday afternoon.
Burton-Akright tallied 230.05 points on six dives as part of the preliminary competition on the 3-meter springboard. She averaged 38.34 points per round and 4.94 points per dive and improved her score from last year's meet by more than 40 points.
For her fifth dive, Burton-Akright performed a reverse one and one-half somersault with one and one-half twists in the free position for a score of 43.75, her best of the day. She posted three more scores of 40 or higher, including a 43.20 on a back one and one-half somersault with one and one-half twist in the free position for her sixth and final dive of the afternoon.
Burton-Akright has twice won the 3-meter event at the CCSA Championships, first as a freshman in 2011 and most recently as a senior in 2014. She took 43rd in the 1-meter on Monday.
