DAVIDSON, N.C. — Senior Brites Moniz-Soares won her third straight singles and doubles matches in helping lead Davidson to its second win in the past three matches with a 7-0 victory at home against USC-Upstate Friday afternoon in the Knobloch Tennis Center.

Davidson moved to 4-5 on the season, with all four wins coming at home, while it improved to 9-1 in the all-time series vs. the Spartans. USCU fell to 1-8 on the campaign.

The day started off with a clean sweep in doubles as all three Wildcat teams won by the scores of 8-5, 8-4 and 8-1. The pair of Moniz-Soares and Elaina Cummer moved to a team-best 6-2 on the year with their 8-5 triumph at No. 1.

Moniz-Soares and Cummer continued the winning ways in singles action as Davidson took all six matches. The Wildcats' No. 1 player Moniz-Soares cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win to move to 5-3 on the year.

Cummer ran her record to 5-3 (5-4 overall) at No. 2 singles with a 7-5, 6-2 victory. Joining her in the win column was Nisha Crouser at No. 3 (3-6, 6-2, 3-2 (7-0)), Sarah Stein at No. 4 (6-2, 6-0) and Jenna Brunner at No. 5 (6-3, 6-2), who is tied with Cummer for the second-best singles record at 5-4.

Tamara Hill won by forfeit at No. 6 singles.

After its three-match homestand, Davidson now goes on the road for a six-match swing. The Wildcats will play four of those matches in Florida, starting March 1 at Florida Atlantic.
