Davidson Falls 6-1 in First Match of Florida Trip

BOCA RATON, Fla. — In its first of four matches during its trip to the state of Florida, Davidson was defeated 6-1 at Florida Atlantic Saturday morning in a first-time matchup in women's tennis.
The lone team point was scored by freshman Jenna Brunner, who took a 6-5 singles win at No. 5.
Elaina Cummer and Nisha Crouser each pushed their matches to a super tie-breaker after splitting their first two sets at No. 2 and 3 positions. Cummer won her second set, 6-4, after dropping a 6-1 decision in the first set. She then fell 10-2 in the super tie-breaker.
Crouser fell in her first set at No 3 by the score of 6-3, but regrouped with a 6-4 win, before falling 10-5 in the super tie-breaker.
Seeing her three-match win streak come to an end was Brites Moniz-Soares at No. 1, who fell 6-3, 6-3. The senior also saw her three-match win streak in doubles halted when her and Cummer fell 8-5 at the top spot.
Davidson (4-6) will also play Barry, Detroit and Xavier during its time in Florida.
The Wildcats continue their stay in Florida with a match at Barry in Miami Shores, Fla., Sunday, March 2, at 10 a.m.
