NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Tyler Kalinoski of the Davidson men's basketball team has been named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for games played Dec. 1-7, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Kalinoski is the third Wildcat honored by the conference in as many weeks. Backcourt mate Jack Gibbs received the award last week, while Peyton Aldridge was tabbed the Rookie of the Week on Nov. 24.
A senior from Overland Park, Kan., Kalinoski finished the week averaging 22 points, six rebounds and four assists per game while shooting 65.2 percent (15-23) and 70.6 percent (12-17) from behind the 3-point line.
In Davidson's win over cross-county rival Charlotte, Kalinoski scored all of his game-high 19 points in the second half, going 7-of-11 from the floor, including five 3-pointers to go along with four assists. The 6-4 shooting guard capped his week matching his career-high of 25 points (17 second half), which included a 7-for-9 effort from behind the 3-point line, while just missing a double-double with nine rebounds.
For the season, Kalinoski leads the Wildcats in scoring (16.7 ppg.), 3-point field-goal percentage (.519) and minutes played (29.3 mpg.).
Davidson will return to the hardwood Wednesday with a 9 p.m. (EST) contest at Montana.
