Gibbs Named A-10 Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the second straight week a member of the Davidson men's basketball team has been honored by the conference office as Jack Gibbs was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Monday for games played Nov. 24-30.
For the Week, Gibbs averaged 25.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game, while going 18-of-25 from the floor, including five 3-pointers.
In Davidson's 95-69 win at UCF on Wednesday, the sophomore poured in a career-high 37 points, 22 of which came in the first half. In addition to being the first Wildcat to hit the 35-point plateau since Stephen Curry, Gibbs went 15-of-17 from the floor, with both misses coming from long range.
A native of Westerville, Ohio, Gibbs capped his week with 13 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals in the Wildcats' 72-49 victory over UNCW.
For the season, the 6-0 point guard leads Davidson in scoring (15.8 ppg), assists (5.0 apg) and steals (2.2 spg).
A week ago, freshman Peyton Aldridge was selected the league's rookie of the week.
Davidson will continue its three-game homestand Wednesday when cross-county rival Charlotte visits Belk Arena for the annual "Battle for the Hornets' Nest Trophy" at 7 p.m.
