Military/Civil Servant Day
• Military personnel and civil servants will be admitted free with proper ID.
• A group of veterans wounded in combat will be recognized at halftime.
A Davidson win would . . .
• Snap a four-game overall losing streak
• Snap a seven-game losing streak to Dayton and be just the second win ever of the Flyers
• Snap a 10-game PFL losing streak
The Series
• Davidson trails the all-time series, which began in 1989, 1-11.
• The 'Cats posted their only victory over Dayton in 2006, 37-36 at home. The Flyers have won the last six meetings.
• Despite three turnovers, a dominating running game and strong defense led Dayton to a 40-8 victory over Davidson in a weather-shortened game at Dayton last season. The game was called with 7:46 remaining due to lightning in the area.
• Four Dayton rushers combined for 335 yards.
• William Morris was tops on offense for Davidson, catching seven passes for 93 yards. Matt Casey led in tackles, matching his then-career high of 13.
Scouting Dayton
• Dayton was picked second in the PFL Preseason Coaches Poll, while Davidson was picked 10th.
• Four Dayton players were named to the 2014 Preseason All-PFL Team : QB Will Bardo, RB Connor Kacsor, DL Pat Dowd, and PK William Will.
• Dayton has played just three games this season, but all three were against scholarship programs. The Flyers, which are coming off a bye week, earned wins over Georgetown and Robert Morris and lost to Duquesne.
Signs of Improvement
• Davidson's 32 points against Morehead State were its most in a PFL game since 2009.
• The 'Cats are averaging 184.2 yards per game rushing so far this season after averaging just 88.2 last season. The rate is second in the PFL and ranks 48th in the nation. If Davidson were to maintain that average, it would be its highest since 1999 (188.6). In fact, the Wildcats have not averaged over 100 yards per game throughout an entire season since 2009.
• Davidson finished dead last in the PFL in scoring last season, only averaging 14.0 points per game, but the 'Cats are currently second in the league averaging 27.2 points per game.
Rankings Leaders
• Davidson has been strong offensively to rank second in the PFL in scoring (27.2) and yardage (414.0) per game.
• QB J.P. Douglas ranks 16th in the nation and first in the PFL with a 65.8 completion percentage. He also ranks first in the league and 21st nationally with 1,104 passing yards.
• WR William Morris ranks fourth in the nation and leads the PFL in receiving yards (513). His 6.8 receptions per game rank 12th nationally and second in the PFL.
• RB David Rogers is second in the PFL with 5.93 yards per carry. He also leads the league and ranks 28th nationally with five rushing touchdowns, and ranks fourth in the league with 338 rushing yards.
• As a team, Davidson has been very disciplined, ranking 19th in the nation and second in the conference for fewest penalty yards. The 'Cats also rank second in the PFL averaging just 5.2 penalties per game, which ranks 21st nationally.

Last Time Out
• Princeton quarterback Quinn Epperly rushed for four touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 56-17 victory over Davidson.
• Tight end Trey Huelskamp led Davidson with nine catches for 82 yards – both career highs and worthy of a CFPA honorable mention - but Princeton used a fast-paced offense that racked up 478 total yards, including a ground game that produced 233 yards and all six offensive touchdowns. The Tigers possessed the ball on offense for just 20 minutes, 22 seconds.
• In addition to the four scores, Epperly led the running game with 16 rushes for 118 yards, while completing 15 of 18 pass attempts for 176 yards.
• For Davidson, completed 29 of 44 passes for 260 yards, with one touchdown to William Morris. Morris followed Huelskamp with six catches for 60 yards. Princeton held the Wildcats' running game to 67 yards, led by David Rogers with 39 and a touchdown.
• Princeton took command of the game on the opening kickoff, as Dre Nelson returned it 89 yards for a touchdown. Nelson also had a rushing touchdown later in the game.
Tremendous Trey
• Huelskamp already has 19 catches for 198 yards through five games this season after totaling 17 catches for 182 yards in 11 games last season. He caught 28 passes for 228 yards as a freshman.
• Huelskamp was one of four FCS Tight End Performer of the Week honorable mentions recognized by the College Football Performance Awards for games played through Sept. 27.
• In a loss at Princeton, Huelskamp led the Wildcats in receiving, setting career highs with nine catches for 82 yards.
Utility Man
• John Cook is not your average backup quarterback.
• On offense, Cook is a goaline threat with his running ability. He also provided Davidson with a spark late in the game against Morehead State, breaking off a 39-yard touchdown run.
• He also took over the punting duties when starter Jaris Scott struggled early against MSU. Cook punted frequently as a freshman when Davidson lacked a specialist for the position last season.
Schedule Notes
• Davidson is playing 12 games this season for the first time in its history.
• The schedule was front-loaded with home games, as three of Davidson's first four were at home. Four of the final six will be on the road.
Young 'Cats
• The team is very young, with 36 freshmen and just 25 upper-classmen (9 seniors, 16 juniors.) It's the largest freshman class since the 'Cats also had 36 in 2009.
• Of the 22 slots on the offensive two-deep, 10 are occupied by underclassmen (5 sophomores, 5 freshmen), while 16 (9 sophomores and 7 freshmen) are listed on the defensive side. Seven of 12 specialists slots are filled by freshmen.
2014
• The Wildcats return 35 letterwinners and 14 starters (6 offense, 8 defense).
• The top returner on offense is junior WR William Morris. He had 1,090 yards receiving in 2013 – the third most in Davidson history - and 67 receptions - tied for the fourth most in a single season in school history. His 6.1 catches per game ranked second in the PFL, while his 99.1 yards per game led the league. He is on pace to break Davidson's all-time receiving records and was an All-PFL honorable mention last season.
• On defense, LB Matt Casey is the top returner. He finished 2013 with 106 tackles, which ranks as the fourth-most in a single season at Davidson. He was named to the All-PFL second team.
William Morris Milestone Watch
• William Morris is on pace to rewrite the Davidson receiving record books.
• He caught his 100th career reception at VMI (9/13) as part of a 16-catch performance.
• Morris also passed Gary Pomeroy '75 (1329) and Mike Chase '03 (1345) in receiving yards at VMI.

Honorary Captain
• Bob Cordle '63 may be one of the toughest players ever to wear a Davidson football jersey. Listed at 5 feet, 8 inches and 155 pounds, Cordle played the game with a ferocity that belied his modest stature.
• A hard-nosed speedster, he often faced players much bigger, courageously throwing himself into would-be tacklers and ball-carriers alike--sacrificing his body for the team. Cordle did it all as a player and he was involved in nearly every play for the Wildcats. He helped Davidson to some of its most memorable victories on offense as a halfback, defense as a defensive back, and occasionally special teams as a punter, punt and kick returner.
• He serves on the Davidson Athletic Foundation board and the Davidson College Board of Trustees. He was the Annual Fund class chair for the Class of 1963, the 40th reunion planning chair, and is currently a member of the Davidson Gridiron Club and the Fastbreak Club.
• Cordle was the 2011 Hendrix Award winner.
