Davidson, Bob McKillop already enjoying A-10 bump after joining new league (Mass Live)
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – On Tuesday, Davidson head coach Bob McKillop took part in his first Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Media Day at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Now in his 26th season at the helm, McKillop spent the morning meeting with both print and electronic media, sat down for one-on-one interviews with ESPN's Dana O'Neil, the A-10 Network, Campus Insiders as well as SNY, and provided promotional pieces for the conference's "Next" campaign.
In addition to the annual festivities that took place at the site of this year's conference tournament, the 2014-15 Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll and Teams were released.
VCU was tabbed this year's favorite receiving all 28 first-place votes, while the 14-head coaches and media members voted Jordan Sibert (Dayton), Patricio Garino (George Washington), Kendall Anthony (Richmond), DeAndre' Bembry (Saint Joseph's), Treveon Graham (VCU) and Briante Weber (VCU) preseason first-team all-conference.
Davidson, which officially joined the league on July 1, 2014, was predicted to finish 12th ahead of George Mason and Fordham.
The Wildcats will hold their annual Red/Black Scrimmage Saturday at 3 p.m. in John M. Belk Arena. The scrimmage is open to the public, and admission is free. Davidson will host Lenoir-Rhyne in a preseason tune up Nov. 11 before opening the season Nov. 15 against Catholic on McKillop Court at 2 p.m.
