DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Wildcats return home after their trip to Florida last weekend for a Friday night contest against Southern Methodist at Alumni Stadium. They will also take on Clemson Sunday on the road.

The Matchup
Davidson plays a home and away contest this weekend, hosting Southern Methodist at 7 p.m. Friday, before traveling to ACC-foe Clemson Sunday at 1 p.m.

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
The Wildcats and SMU series is just a game old, with the Mustangs leading 1-0 after taking a 3-0 decision at their place in 2010. Davidson is seeking its first win against the Tigers, trailing 0-6-1 in the series which dates back to 1994. The two teams played to a 1-1 tie at Alumni Stadium last year.

Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson (0-1-3) earned a pair of scoreless draws at the FGCU Embassy Suite Classic this past weekend ... the Wildcats and Florida Gulf Coast went scoreless on Friday, with the 'Cats' defense holding strong despite the Eagles firing off 30 shots ... Sunday was a scoreless draw vs. Florida Atlantic in both team's first matchup against each other ... Becca Fisher leads the team with 15 shots through four games, good for second-most in the SoCon ... goalkeeper Rachel Locke, along with Fisher were named to the all-tournament team ... Locke had an outstanding weekend, stopping 13 shots and getting both shutouts to give her 11 for her career ... the junior made a huge save in the second half vs. FGCU on a penalty kick ... Locke ranks first in the league with three shutouts, second with 20 saves and third in goals against average (0.43) ... Davidson was picked to finish fourth in the 2013 SoCon preseason poll ... the Wildcats return 21 letterwinners, including 10 starters ... head coach Greg Ashton enters his 10th season and needs just five more victories to reach 100 for his career at Davidson ... the soccer program, which was started in 1989, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary throughout the year with the main festivities coming Oct. 18-20 against UNCG and Elon.

Scouting the Mustangs
SMU (2-2) split its two games last weekend at home, defeating Colorado State 4-0, before falling to No. 11 Baylor 2-0 ... four different Mustangs scored in the win vs. CSU, while the Mustangs had six assists, including two by Taylor Barg ... Shelby Redman paces the team with three goals and an assist for seven points ... Barg has a team-high four assists ... Shannon Moroney has played in all four games in goal ... The Mustangs were tabbed to finish seventh in the American Athletic Conference ... Redman was named to the preseason All-AAC team ... the Mustangs return eight starters ... head coach Chris Petrucelli became the 16th coach in NCAA history to collect 350 wins with a victory vs. Louisiana-Monroe to open the year.

Scouting the Tigers
Clemson (1-0-2) played to a 1-1 tie at South Florida Friday, Aug. 30 ... the Tigers will play Vanessa Laxgang scored the lone Clemson goal on a penalty kick ... Catrina Atanda has scored the other goal on the season ... between the pipes, Kailen Sheridan has started all three games, with seven saves and a pair of shutouts ... Clemson returns nine starters and 18 letterwinners in all ... the Tigers finished 6-10-2 a year ago with a 1-9 ACC record ... they have been to 14 NCAA Tournaments since the program was started in 1994 ... head coach Eddie Radwanski is in his third year at Clemson with a 12-22-2 record ... he previously was at UNCG and has collected 151 career wins.

Next on the Schedule
Davidson goes on the road to face Winthrop next Friday, Sept. 13, before coming back home to take on James Madison Sunday, the 15th, at 2 p.m.
