BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford Bulldogs pushed their unbeaten streak to six games behind Amanda Abbott's two goals in downing Davidson 3-0 Sunday afternoon at SU Soccer Stadium in Southern Conference women's soccer action.
 
Davidson finished its first weekend of SoCon play 1-1 to go to 2-6-3 overall. Samford, which tied Georgia Southern Friday night, moved to 7-2-1 overall (1-0-1 SoCon) and 5-0-1 in the last six games.
 
Samford got the only goal it would need in the 39th minute off a corner kick, set up by Jordan Johnson. She sent a ball into the box where Amanda Abbott headed in her fourth goal of the season for the game-winner.
 
Abbott tacked on her second goal at the 80:08 when she beat Rachel Locke with a shot to the left side. Michelle Moll sent a through ball ahead to Abbott to set the goal up.
 
The Bulldogs' second goal was in the 66th minute off the foot of Anna Allen, who fired off a left-footed shot from 17 yards out.
 
Davidson was outshot 15-6, putting four of their shots on goal, while also losing the battle in corner kicks at 10-4. Locke finished with four saves, while Renae Cairns saw action in the final 3:28 of the game.
 
Davidson begins a three-game homestand next weekend with games against Western Carolina (Oct. 4) and Appalachian State (Oct. 6).
