DAVIDSON, N.C. — After opening its final season in the Southern Conference on the road, the Wildcats return home to start a three-game homestand starting this weekend against Western Carolina and Appalachian State.

The Matchup
Davidson starts a three-game SoCon homestand by hosting Western Caorlina Friday night at 7 p.m. and closing against Appalachian State Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium at 2 p.m.    

The All-Time Series / Last Meeting
This will be the 16th and 26th meetings, respectively, for Davidson against the Catamounts and the Mountaineers. In both series, the Wildcats have dominated. The 'Cats are 9-5-1 all-time vs. WCU since 1999 and have won the last two matches in a row. Last year saw the Wildcats score a 2-0 shutout victory on the road behind goals from Rachael Newmister and Julia Singley.

The series vs. ASU has Davidson holding a commanding 19-3-3 lead, but it has dropped two games recently in last four years, both on the road. On the road a year ago, the 'Cats were upended 1-0 in double-overtime.     

Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson (2-6-3, 1-1 SoCon) went 1-1 in its opening SoCon weekend at Chattanooga and Samford ... the 'Cats netted a 3-2 win vs. the Mocs Friday, but fell 3-0 to Samford last Sunday ... Becca Fisher, who leads the team with 24 shots, had a goal and assist in the win Friday ... it was the Wildcats' 10 straight victory vs. the Mocs, improving to 18-1-1 all-time ... Sarah Tuggle kicked in the game-winner on her first career collegiate goal ... Rachel Locke earned her second win of the year and pushed her save total to 54 with a combined seven over the weekend ... she is second in the SoCon in saves, while in a four-way tie for first in shutouts with four ... the Wildcats are 1-3-1 at home this year ... in last year's 2-0 win vs. WCU, Julia Singley scored one of the goals, while Fisher assisted on it ... the 'Cats are playing their 20th and final season in the SoCon ... Davidson was picked to finish fourth in the 2013 SoCon preseason poll ... the Wildcats return 21 letterwinners, including 10 starters ... head coach Greg Ashton enters his 10th season and needs just three more victories to reach 100 for his career at?Davidson ... the soccer program, which was started in 1989, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary throughout the year with the main festivities coming Oct. 18-20 against UNCG?and Elon.  

Scouting the Catamounts
Western (5-4-1, 0-2 SoCon) is coming off a 2-0 shutout defeat to UNCG, Sept. 29 ... their other SoCon defeat came against Elon, 3-1 ... Kelly Pannell has a team-best 11 points on four goals and three assists ... between the pipes, Carly Tinstman has played in 10 games, starting two of them, while Jenny Lauer has started all eight of her games ... Lauer has a 0.50 goals against average and a 5-0 record ... WCU is 2-2 on the road this year ... it picked up non-conference wins vs. Mercer, Western Kentucky, UNC Wilmington, Eastern Ky. and Lipscomb ... head coach Chad Miller is in his fourth season ... the Catamounts return 19 letterwinners, six of them starters, from last year's 7-10-2 team.  

Scouting the Mountaineers
App. State (3-4-2, 0-0-2 SoCon), which plays at Georgia Southern Friday, is coming off a 3-3 tie with Elon, Sept. 29 ... the Mountaineers scored all three goals in the second half ... they also tied UNCG, 1-1, in their other SoCon game ... Julia Holz had a team-high 10 points (3 gls., 4 asts.) ... Samantha Childress has four goals ... Megan Roberson has started all seven games in goal, with 30 saves and a 1.70 goals against average ... App. State is 0-2-1 on the road this year ... ASU returns 21 letterwinners, with nine of them being starters from last year's 10-8-1 team.

Davidson stays at home to take on The Citadel, Oct. 10, before going to Francis Marion, Oct. 13.
