DAVIDSON, N.C. – Riding a three-game unbeaten streak to begin the 2013 season, the Davidson men's soccer team returns to Alumni Stadium Wednesday evening for a 7 p.m. kick-off against in-state foe Campbell.
Coming off a thrilling 2-1 victory at Harvard over the weekend, the Wildcats enter 2-0-1. Trailing 1-0 with just under 19 minutes to play, Davidson rallied with goals from Ryan Malden and Max Pragnell to edge the Crimson.
Pragnell, who set up all three goals in the Wildcats' two results to open the year, could not have picked a better time to net his first collegiate goal, as the freshman drove home the game-winner in the 88th minute.
In addition to leading the Southern Conference in assists, the Kingston, Jamaica native ranks third among league leaders in total points.
Davidson enters the 13th all-time meeting with the Camels ranked 10th in the NCSAA/Continental Tire South Region Poll. The Wildcats lead the series, 7-5, including a 1-0 win over Campbell in Buies Creek September 21, 2011.
After opening the year with a 2-0 setback to N.C. State, Campbell defeated VMI, 3-2, eight days ago to improve to 1-1-0.
Justin Franz leads the Camels offensively with a goal and two assists.
Davidson returns to the pitch Saturday when it travels to Longwood for a 3 p.m. contest.
