DAVIDSON, N.C. – Former Davidson men's basketball standout Nik Cochran has signed a professional contract with FIATC Joventut Badalona (Badalona, Catalonia), a member of Spain's top division.
In addition to helping lead the Wildcats to back-to-back Southern Conference Tournament titles and NCAA Tournament appearances, Cochran was a two-time all-league performer.
A two-year starter for Davidson, Cochran led the nation in free-throw percentage (.935) in 2012-13, while ranking ninth in 3-point field-goal percentage with a 48.5 percent clip. In addition, the point guard finished his career ranked among Wildcat greats in scoring (1,105 points/32nd), 3-point field-goal percentage (.400/5th), free-throw percentage (.892/1st) and assists (316/16th).
A native of Vancouver, B.C., Cochran became the first Wildcat to hit the 30-point plateau since Stephen Curry, when he poured in a career-high 32 points on 10-of-13 shooting, including six 3-pointers in Davidson's win at Western Carolina (1/24).
Cochran is the second Wildcat to sign a pro contract this summer as classmate Jake Cohen signed with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv of the Euroleague in July.
