DAVIDSON, N.C — For the second time this year, the Wildcats will have a three-game homestand starting this Friday, April 5 at 6 p.m. when they play host to Campbell in a Big South matchup at Richardson Stadium in women's lacrosse.
Davidson will also host Presbyterian over the weekend, playing the Blue Hose Sunday at 1 p.m. Prior to the game, the Wildcats will honor their five seniors as part of Senior Day. Seniors Alanna Parker, Lindsay Cooper, Erin McGuire, Jessica Melby, Morgan Tarrant and Abigail Doelger will be recognized for their four-years of service at Davidson.
The Opening Draw Control
Davidson (5-5, 2-0 Big South) is riding a season-high three-game winning streak and looks to push it out to five straight by hosting first-year program Campbell (5-4, 0-3 Big South) Friday evening and then Presbyterian (2-10, 0-2 Big South) Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats have scored wins vs. Longwood (17-7), Lafayette (17-13) and Liberty (12-5) during the win streak.
Sunday Game Promotions
The Wildcats game vs. Presbyterian Sunday afternoon will be the Lacrosse Luau. There will be FREE Smoothie King as well as Tenders, and the first 50 students get a free Davidson Lax tank top.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
This will be the first time Davidson and Campbell have met as the Fighting Camels are in their first year of varsity lacrosse.
The 'Cats are perfect vs. Presbyterian, holding a 5-0 record in the all-time series. In last year's meeting at Richardson Stadium, Davidson scored a season-high 21 goals in a 21-15 victory. Ann Fucigna had five goals and five assists in the win, setting personal bests in assists and points (10).
Closing in on All-Time Records
Fucigna will look to make history this weekend as she is closing in on the all-time goals and points record. She needs just four goals to break the all-time mark of 134 set by Jen Crawford (2007-10).
Fucigna has 168 career points (131 goals, 37 assists), which puts her third all-time in the Wildcat record books and just 17 away from the all-time mark of Amanda Fleck (185, 1996-99).
Alanna Parker is also climbing the record charts as she has 120 goals, good for fourth place, while her 140 career points is sixth-best. The senior is also third all-time with 108 career draw controls.
Emily Cooke needs just three more assists to set the new single-season mark. She already has a career-best 27 this year to go with 18 goals for a team-best 45 points. Freshman Emma Sissman is tied for third in single-season draw controls with 47.
Senior goalie Jessica Melby ranks fifth all-time with 355 saves and her 2,736 minutes between the pipes is good for third-most in the Wildcat record books.
Weekly Honors
Senior Melby and junior Fucigna have collected Big South Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week this year. Melby was honored with the defender of the week, April 1, while Fucigna captured the offensive player of the week, March 12.
