DAVIDSON, N.C. — Fresh off the program's first postseason win Thursday at Old Dominion, Davidson will seek win No. 2 when it battles cross-county rival Charlotte Sunday afternoon in the second round of the Women's Basketball National Invitation Tournament at Halton Arena. Gametime is set for 2 p.m.
The Wildcats (22-12) are looking to avenge a 69-54 road defeat to the 49ers (25-5) this past Dec. 21. They have dropped the last three games to their cross-county rival.
Game Notes: Quick Hits...
•Davidson is sporting a 22-12 record after opening the WNIT with a first round win Thursday.
•The victory was the program's first-ever in postseason play in three tries.

... the series has Davidson trailing 12-10 to Charlotte after the 49ers captured a 69-54 decision before Christmas this year. The 49ers have won six of the past seven meetings dating back to Nov. 25, 2003.
In the last meeting, a hot-shooting Charlotte 49ers squad hit 57.1 percent of their first-half shots and used a 26-2 game-changing run to take the battle of cross-county rivals, 69-54, over Davidson.
The 26-2 run by the 49ers stretched from the 9:09 mark of the first half into the early stages of the second half. It turned a 20-19 Wildcat lead into a 48-22 deficit that the 'Cats could not overcome in falling to their cross-county rival.
Davidson was led by Dakota Dukes season-best 15 points, all coming in the second half. Laura Murray had nine points and five rebounds, while Katrin Chiemeka chipped in eight points.
The first half was a half of runs and Charlotte won the battle. The 'Cats saw their early 7-4 lead turn into a 17-9 deficit when the 49ers ran off a 13-2 spurt. Davidson came right back, sparked by back-to-back-to-back triples by Early, Murray and Chiemeka to rattle off an 11-3 run for a 20-19 advantage with 9:38 left in the half.
It would be the last lead for the Wildcats. Charlotte continued its hot shooting, going on an 18-0 run that grabbed control of the game and gave the 49ers a 37-20 lead with 3:39 left.
The second half saw Davidson trail by as many as 28, but the 'Cats did close the gap to its final score by going on a 14-3 run in the final five minutes. Dukes led the charge, scoring the final nine points of the spurt.

•Thursday's win was No. 13 at home this year, equaling the single-season school mark established four previous times.
•The 49ers were led by the double-double pairing of seniors Jennifer Hailey and Amanda Dowe. Hailey shared game-high scoring honors with 20 points, while hauling in 11 rebounds for her 22nd double-double of the campaign, moving her into a third-place tie on the school's single-season list.
•Dowe contributed 19 points and a game-best 16 boards for her 14th double-double of the year. The pair combined to hit 15-of-26 field goals and 9-of-12 free throws.
•On the season, Hailey is averaging 15.2 points and 11.7 rebounds, while Dowe is right behind her at 11 points and 11.8 rebounds.
•The duo combined for 26 rebounds in the win at home vs. Davidson, but were held to just 14 points together.
•Ny Hammonds is also pouring in double digits in points at 10.2 per game.
