DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Wildcats return home after having played three of their past four games on the road, starting a three-game homestand with a 6 p.m. contest against No. 13 Dartmouth Tuesday evening at Richardson Stadium in women's lacrosse.
The Opening Draw Control
Davidson (2-4, 0-0 Big South) seeks to get back on the winning track by playing its seventh non-conference opponent, hosting the Dartmouth Big Green (4-2), who is ranked 13th and the top team in the Ivy League.
This is the highest ranked opponent the Wildcats have faced since taking on No. 5 Duke in 2010.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
This will be the first meeting between both teams.
Last Time Out...
... Davidson — Jessica Mucci had a game-high eight points and helped the Villanova Wildcats score five of the first six goals to open the second half in downing Davidson, 11-7, in a battle of the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at Villanova Stadium in women's lacrosse.
Junior Ann Fucigna continued her hot-scoring of late, netting another three goals and assisting on two others to pace the Davidson attack. She has 14 goals in the past four games, moving her 17 goals away from setting the all-time Davidson mark of 134 held by Jen Crawford.
Fucigna had gotten the Wildcats to within one, 4-3, on back-to-back strikes in the first half. The Villanova Wildcats, up 5-3 at the break, broke the game opened by pushing their lead out to 10-4 with 15:25 remaining on their 5-1 run to start the second period.
Davidson scored three of the final four goals, including Fucigna's third of the contest for the final four-goal deficit.
Freshman Jean Atkinson had her first collegiate two-goal game, while Emily Cooke and Emily Rademacher each scored once. Cooke pushed her team-leading points total to 26, including a career-best 16 assists.
Fucigna had a team-high three groundballs for Davidson, while Rebecca Garman, Paige Logan and goalie Jessica Melby had two apiece.
Melby stopped six shots in goal, while Abigail Doelger registered a season-best three caused turnovers.
... Dartmouth — In the first of two games in the Tar Heel State this week, the No. 13 Dartmouth women's lacrosse team fell to No. 6 Duke, 13-5.
Senior Hana Bowers was the team's top offensive player on this overcast day in Durham, scoring twice to bring her season total to a team-leading 15 goals this spring. Fellow senior Kelsey Johnson scored her second marker in as many games; the lone tally of the first half for Dartmouth as the home team took a 6-1 lead into the intermission.
After Duke built its lead to 9-1 in the opening minutes of the second half, Bowers and sophomore Sarah Byrne combined for three straight to bring the Big Green back to within five, 9-4.
The home team would finish the afternoon on a 4-1 run with junior Liz Calby's 13th goal of the season the bright spot for the Green and White during that stretch.
