Monuszko, Burton-Akright Wrap Up Competition at NCAA Zone Meet

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Davidson divers Kaliya Burton-Akright and Karen Monuszko finished the 2012-13 season with the 1-meter diving preliminary competition at the NCAA B Zone meet at the University of Tennessee on Tuesday afternoon.
Burton-Akright found herself in contention for the national meet through three rounds of dives, but could not hold on. She posted a score of 214.40 to take 31st place at the event. Burton-Akright picked up her best score of the day on her first dive, an inward one and a half somersault in the pike positions. She accrued 42.00 points from the judges on the dive, which had a 2.4-degree of difficulty.
Monuszko took 38th place with 189.90 points in the competition. She received 35.56 points from the judges on her fourth dive of the day, a forward dive featuring two somersaults in the pike position.
