Divers Complete 3-Meter Competition at NCAA Zones

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Davidson divers Kaliya Burton-Akright and Karen Monuszko represented the Wildcats in the 3-meter preliminary competition at the NCAA Zone B Diving meet, hosted at the University of Tennessee on Monday.
Monuszko accrued 218.15 points in the event, finishing 37th overall. Her highest-scoring dive of the day was a reverse two and half somersault in the tuck position with a 2.8 degree of difficulty. She was awarded a total of 43.40 points on the dive. Monuszko was also awarded 43.20 points on her final dive, a forward two and a half somersault in the pike position, averaging a score of 6.0 from the judges.
Burton-Akright claimed 39th place in the event with a score of 189.90. She received 37.20 points on a back one and a half somersault with one and a half twists in the free position. She averaged a score of 5.2 from the judges on the dive, which featured a 2.4 degree of difficulty.
Both divers will be back in action for the 1-meter competition preliminaries, which start at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning.
