CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Chattanooga claimed eight matches en route to a 37-7 victory over Davidson in a Southern Conference dual meet Sunday afternoon in Maclellan Gym.
Anthony Elias scored a major decision for Davidson (6-10, 1-4 SoCon) at 133 pounds to bring the Wildcats within two points after forfeiting the 125-pound match, but Chattanooga (8-6, 4-0 SoCon) claimed the next three, including a pin at 141 pounds by Dean Pavlou, to build a 19-4 lead at the halfway point.
Senior Christopher Cirenza earned a 10-8 decision over Parker Smith at 165 pounds, but the Mocs claimed the remaining matches, led by a pin at heavyweight by Kevin Malone. Junior Scott Patrick fought hard against UTC's Robert Prigmore at 184 pounds, but lost a 2-1 decision on the riding point.
Davidson will host Campbell in another SoCon match Thursday in Belk Arena. The Wildcats will host a tri-meet next Sunday that will feature Ohio Northern and NC State before concluding the regular season the following Sunday by hosting league-foe Appalachian State.
