DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson returns to Alumni Stadium on Friday and Sunday when it hosts Clemson and for the first time, North Florida, in a pair of women's soccer matchups.

The Matchup
Davidson looks to rebound from a tough trip to East Carolina and UNC Wilmington last weekend when it first hosts ACC-foe Clemson, Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. and then North Florida, Sunday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m.

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
Davidson is seeking its first win in the series vs. the Tigers as it trails 6-0. The two teams have not met since the 1999 campaign when Clemson took a 1-0 decision. The Wildcats will be facing the Ospreys for the first time.

Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson (0-1) had a tough weekend, dropping games to East Carolina (L, 0-3) and UNC Wilmington (L, 2-3) ... Stephanie Piperno and Tori Krause each scored at UNCW ... Krause has four points on the season with a pair of goals, while Piperno has tallied a goal and assist for three points ... Piperno's 15 shots is tied for fourth-most in the league ... goalkeeper Renae Cairns has played 160 minutes of shutout ball with two saves ... Rachel Locke has seven saves and started three games ... Davidson ranks sixth in the SoCon in shots per game at 12.75 ... the Wildcats return 23 of its 29 letterwinners, including nine starters, from last year ... preseason All-SoCon pick and reigning SoCon Freshman of the Year Becca Fisher has six shots, second-most on the team ... she is the leading returning scorer from a year ago with seven goals, four assists and 18 points ... Davidson was picked to finish fifth in the SoCon preseason poll after sporting a 7-4 record last year and finishing fourth overall ... head coach Greg Ashton is 11 wins away from reach 100 for his career at Davidson.

Scouting the Tigers
Clemson (5-1) earned a 2-1 victory over Winthrop on Monday .... Vanessa Laxgang and Jenna Polonsky each scored in the win ... the Tigers earlier this season netted a season-best six goals in a 6-0 triumph vs. Presbyterian ... Friday night's game is just the third road game for Clemson ... the Tigers are coming off a 6-12 season and went 0-10 in the very tough Atlantic Coast Conference ... five teams were ranked in the preseason NSCAA poll ... Clemson was picked to finish last again ... head coach Eddie Radwanski enters his second season after a 10-year tenure at UNCG ... Radwanski's team returns 12 letterwinners, including seven starters, and welcomes eight newcomers for the 2012 season ... Liska Dobberstein paces the team with three goals and six points, while Tabitha Padgett has a goal and a team-best three assists ... goalkeeper Hunter Rittgers has started all six games, sporting a 0.33 GAA on just two goals allowed with 19 saves.

Scouting the Ospreys
North Florida (2-4) plays at Charlotte on Friday evening before coming to Davidson on Sunday ... prior to playing the 49ers, NFU took on Navy and fell by the count of 5-3 ... Carolina Lencina has a team-high seven points with two goals and three assists, while Thea Linkfield has three goals ... Rachel Beninati has started all six games in goal ... she has 23 saves and a 1.67 goals against average ...
