DAVIDSON, N.C. - Davidson guard JP Kuhlman has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, recognizing those collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the 2011-12 season.
Kuhlman started all 33 games for the Wildcats in 2011-12 and averaged 10.8 points, 2.9 assists and 3.8 rebounds a contest. He was named to the SoCon all-tournament team after posting 19 points, five assists and eight rebounds in the championship game victory over Western Carolina. Kuhlman played all 45 minutes of the overtime contest.
He was named third-team Capital One Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America, becoming the seventh Davidson men's basketball player to garner Academic All-America honors and the first since Derek Rucker earned first-team accolades in 1988. He carries a 3.8 grade point average and is majoring in religion.
Davidson finished the 2011-12 campaign with a 25-8 overall record, marking the fourth time in the last six seasons the Wildcats have posted 25 or more wins. Davidson returns all five starters and the top eight scorers and rebounders from last year's squad, which made the school's 11th NCAA Tournament appearance.
