ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Jake Cohen and De'Mon Brooks combined for 44 points and 11 rebounds, and Davidson held Elon without a field goal for 11:03 in the second half to earn an 83-67 victory in the semifinal round of the Southern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament at the U.S. Cellular Center Sunday night.

The Wildcats (24-7) advance to Monday's championship game and will face Western Carolina at 9 p.m. The game will be televised live on ESPN2.

Cohen led all scorers with 24 points, canning 8-of-14 shots and all seven of his free throws. Brooks also hit eight field goals, including a pair of triples for an even 20 points.

Chris Czerapowicz was the third scorer in double figures for the 'Cats with 12 points.

Elon's (15-16) Jack Isenbarger netted 22 points, while Lucas Troutman had 18. Ryley Beaumont had a game-high 10 rebounds.

After Elon trimmed a six-point Davidson halftime lead to 39-38 early in the second half, the Wildcats went on a monstrous 25-6 run to open a 64-44 advantage on a Brooks putback with 8:32 left in the game.

Cohen scored 10 points and Brooks added six, though most of the run came with Brooks on the bench after he was whistled for two fouls in the first 16 seconds of the half. Elon was unable to work the margin under 15 points for the remainder of the contest.

It was punch-counterpunch in the first half as neither team could gain a lead larger than eight points in the frame. Cohen scored four points as the 'Cats outscored Elon 7-2 to open an 18-12 cushion midway through the half.

Leading 24-20, Davidson used a 6-2 mini run to open a brief eight-point advantage, but Isenbarger connected on a jumper and a triple to help get the Phoenix back within three.

Clinging to a 37-33 advantage, Davidson got the last shot of the period, and Czerapowicz hit an off-balance runner with four ticks on the clock as the Wildcats led 39-33 at the break.

Game Notes: Monday's game will be Davidson's 18th appearance in the finals… Davidson improved to 10-7 in SoCon Tourney games in Asheville… Cohen and had Brooks had their ninth and 10th 20-point outings, respectively, on the season … The 'Cats topped Western Carolina 88-67 way back on Jan. 12, in Belk Arena in their only meeting this season.
