Kuhlman Named Third-Team Academic All-America

TOWSON, Md. - Davidson College men's basketball guard JP Kuhlman has been named third-team Capital One Academic All-America by the College Sports Information Directors of America, it was announced today.
Kuhlman is the seventh Davidson men's basketball player to garner Academic All-America honors and the first since Derek Rucker earned first-team accolades in 1988.
Kuhlman is averaging 11.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists this season. He was named SoCon Player of the Week Nov. 29, after scoring 21 points to lead Davidson to a 70-67 win at UNC?Wilmington, and scored his 1,000th career point on a free throw in an 83-79 victory at Appalachian State Jan. 14.
The junior has played in 91 career games and made 62 consecutive starts. He has tallied 1,119 points, good for 30th on the Wildcats' all-time scoring list, to go along with 322 rebounds, 284 assists (15th at Davidson) and 88 steals. Kuhlman has scored in double figures 63 times in his career and topped the 20-point mark in six games.
He has a 3.80 grade point average in religion and plans to attend medical school after graduating from Davidson.
The 20-7 Wildcats return to action tonight as they host Elon in a Southern Conference contest at 7 p.m. in Belk Arena.
