DAVIDSON, N.C. – Southern Conference foe Gardner-Webb will visit Belk Arena Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in Davidson wrestling's home finale.
Tyler Mullen, the lone senior on the team, will be honored prior to the match.
Scouting the Wildcats: Davidson (3-12, 0-4 SoCon) will look to claim victory for the third time in its last four matches. A win for the Wildcats would give them a 3-3 record at home for the year. Senior Tyler Mullen (165 pounds) and freshman Kevin Birmingham (149 pounds) lead the team with 13 wins each this season. Mullen is riding a four-match winning streak. Freshman Anthony Elias (133 pounds) is riding a three-match win streak after an impressive outing against The Citadel.
Scouting the Runnin' Bulldogs: Gardner-Webb (5-11, 0-5 SoCon) and Davidson are the lone teams without conference wins this season. The Runnin' Bulldogs have one victory in their last six matches, a 39-12 win over Millersville on Feb. 4. Davidson defeated Millersville 24-20 at Gardner-Webb earlier the same day. Gardner-Webb's last conference match was Feb. 10 against The Citadel, a 36-10 defeat. Davidson lost to The Citadel, 31-12, in its most recent outing. Alex Medved (157 pounds) leads the team with a 15-8 overall record and an 11-5 dual match record.
Up Next: Davidson will conclude the regular season Sunday at Appalachian State in a 3 p.m. match. The 'Cats will then compete in the SoCon Championship tournament March 3 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
