Davidson to Meet West Virginia in Old Spice Classic Semifinals

Layup Line
• Davidson enters the semifinals of the 2012 Old Spice Classic 2-2 overall following a 75-62 win over Vanderbilt in the opening round on Thursday.
• The Wildcats only other victory over Vanderbilt came during the Lefty Driesell era when the 'Cats defeated the Commodores, 101-84, on Dec. 7, 1968 in Charlotte.
• Davidson's current stretch of six games in between home contests is its longest during the regular season since the 1999-2000 campaign when the Wildcats played seven straight away from Belk Arena.
• Five Davidson players are averaging double figures through the first four contests, including De'Mon Brooks, who is contributing 19.8 per game.
• The Wildcats have led at the half in each of their first four contests.
• Davidson opponents are a combined 85-of-113 (.752) at the charity stripe. As a team, the Wildcats are shooting 77.1 percent (64-83) at the line, but have attempted two fewer than their opponents have made.

• On Dec. 9, 2008, Stephen Curry posted his fifth career double-double with 27 points and 10 assists, and Davidson held West Virginia to 33 percent shooting in a 68-65 victory in the Jimmy V Classic in Madison Square Garden.
• Prior to the 2008 contest, Davidson had not played the Mountaineers since the 1994 Postseason NIT. It was the first Davidson team to advance to the postseason under Bob McKillop.
• The series began with a 59-53 Mountaineer victory in the 1956 Southern Conference Tournament.

• In addition to a pair of lengthy runs, Davidson shot 62.5 percent in the second half and got 19 points from De'Mon Brooks to defeat Vanderbilt, 75-62, Thursday in the opening round of the 2012 Old Spice Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
• In addition to going 7-of-13 from the floor, Brooks finished 5-of-6 at the line for his fourth double-figure outing of the season. Fellow preseason all-conference selections Nik Cochran and Jake Cohen also added double digits for the Wildcats with 14 points each.
• Davidson (2-2) finished the contest shooting 50 percent (29-58) overall and 42.9 percent (9-21) from long range.
• Kedren Johnson went 11-of-17 from the floor to lead the Commodores with a game-high 28 points, including 21 in the second half. Kyle Fuller had 14 points for the 2012 Southeastern Conference Champions.
• After Johnson gave Vanderbilt (1-2) a 49-48 lead with a 3-point play at the 12:01 mark, the Wildcats responded with an 18-3 streak to go up 66-52 with 6:13 remaining.
• The Wildcats held a 32-29 advantage on the glass, while finishing with 16 second-chance points and 32 points in the paint.
• Trailing 25-23, Davidson closed the first half on a 10-0 run highlighted by eight straight points from Jordan Barham off the bench and a tip-in from Cohen at the buzzer, to take a 33-25 lead into the half.
• Cochran, who drilled three treys in the period, Barham and Cohen combined to score 26 of the Wildcats' first-half points.
• Barham made all four of his field-goal attempts to finish with a season-high nine points.

• A year ago, Nik Cochran led the league and ranked 13th nationally in free-throw shooting, making 88.6 percent of his attempts.
• A career 87.7 percent shooter at the charity stripe, Cochran has made 24 of his last 25 free throws dating back to last season.
