Today's Game
• Davidson will face a San Diego team that is looking to earn a share of the Pioneer Football League Championship in its season finale, set to kickoff at 1 p.m.
• The Wildcats are coming off a 28-27 overtime win at Valpo - their second win this season and their first in overtime since 2001.
• It is also Senior Day, as the Class of 2013 will be honored prior to the game.
• Junior quarterback Jonathan Carkhuff and senior wide receiver Lanny Funsten will be recognized before the game for setting Davidson career records for most completions and touchdown receptions, respectively.
• Larry Hardaway '76 will be presented with the 2012 Hendrix Award after the first quarter.
• Senior LB Patrick Moynahan needs just six tackles to equal the single-season record of 117 set by John Dalton in 1993. His 259 career tackles are tied for eighth at Davidson.
• Davidson is winless at home this season, while San Diego is 1-3 on the road. USD?is on a four-game winning streak and needs to defeat Davidson and Marist to keep its PFL?title hopes alive.
• USD is competing for a share of the PFL title. Its season is scheduled to conclude Dec. 1 at Marist after the game was rescheduled due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Butler already claimed a share of the PFL?title by finishing the season at 7-1. Drake is also in the running for a PFL?title share, currently at 6-1.
Series Record
• San Diego leads the all-time series, which began in 2000, 7-2, and has won seven of the last eight.
• Davidson's two wins in the series have come at San Diego, including a 34-27 decision in 2009.
• San Diego running back Kenny James compiled 161 all-purpose yards, and quarterback Mason Mills threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns in three quarters of work to lead the Toreros to a 42-0 victory over Davidson at Torero Stadium last season.
• James returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, rushed for 61 yards on 16 carries and caught three passes for five markers.
• Davidson quarterback Jonathan Carkhuff finished the day 26-of-43 for 160 yards with an interception. Lanny Funsten caught seven passes for 45 yards to lead the Wildcats.
• Mills completed 16-of-24 passes and rushed for a touchdown, while receiver Brandon White had four catches for 54 yards for San Diego. John McGough caught two passes for 46 yards and a score.
• The Toreros dominated the first half, outgaining Davidson 264-90 in total offense and went into the break with a 28-0 cushion. San Diego also benefitted from two Wildcat fumbles in the frame, one that ended a Davidson drive inside the USD 20-yard line and one that gave the Toreros a 1st-and-goal on the Davidson 7.

Last Time Out
• A spectacular catch by Lanny Funsten in the back corner of the end zone and a successful extra point by Robert Schick gave Davidson a 28-27 overtime victory over Valparaiso last week at Brown Field.
• The game was tied at 21-21 heading into overtime, and Tanner Kuramata hauled in a four-yard pass for Valpo to put the Crusaders on top, but Mike Pando missed the extra point and the Crusaders were tagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the touchdown, which gave Davidson the ball on the 13-yard line on its ensuing possession. A nine-yard pass to Funsten and a two-yard run by David Rogers gave the 'Cats the ball on the two, and quarterback Jonathan Carkhuff then found Funsten in the back right corner for the game-tying score and Funsten's Davidson all-time record 20th touchdown reception. Schick's extra point sealed the win.
• Carkhuff completed 37-of-56 pass attempts for 395 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for two touchdowns. Rogers caught a career-high eight passes for 87 yards and rushed for 37 yards (124 total) on 22 carries and a touchdown. Reese Williams caught a career-high 10 passes for a career–high 131 yards, and freshman  Funsten finished with nine catches for 65 yards, the reception touchdown, and a 14-yard rushing touchdown on a fake field goal.
• Eric Hoffman threw for 219 yards, completing 26-of-39 passing attempts for Valpo, with one touchdown pass to Kurmata. Ryan Lehr and Jake Hutson both rushed for touchdowns and Eric Slenk caught seven passes for 59 yards.
• The Crusaders had to face a strong Wildcats defensive effort led by linebacker Patrick Moynahan and defensive back Adam Dulberger. Moynahan led the 'Cats with 13 tackles, while Dulberger had four key pass breakups and an interception to go along with seven tackles. Zack Clark also had two sacks and eight tackles.
• The Wildcats rallied from a one-touchdown deficit after Valpo took a 21-14 lead on a 21-yard touchdown fumble recovery by Devan Gadson with 7:46 remaining in the third quarter.
• Carkhuff engineered a 10-play, 94-yard drive that he capped with a one-yard quarterback keeper for a touchdown to tie the game at 21-21 with 13:50 remaining.
• After receiving the opening kickoff, a fake punt and a fake field goal attempt keyed a 14-play, 87-yard touchdown drive for Davidson that consumed nearly half of the first quarter. Facing 4th-and-1 from their own 37, the 'Cats snapped to Colby Everett, who burst through a seam for a 29-yard gain to the Valpo 34. The drive stalled out on 4th-and-8 at Valpo's 14. However, Funsten ran a fake as the holder, scampering around the left side and into the end zone for a touchdown.
• Valpo tied the game with 2:27 remaining in the first quarter and went ahead 14-7 with 10:57 remaining in the half.
•  After a 43-minute lightning delay, Valpo resumed from midfield on offense with 6:12 remaining in the first half, but Davidson stopped the Crusaders on 4th-and-less-than-a-yard to get the ball back with 3:09 remaining. Carkhuff kept it himself on a one-yard TD run with 34 seconds remaining, tying the game at 14-14.
• Davidson set season highs in multiple categories on offense, running 90 plays for 512 yards (395 passing, 117 rushing) to Valpo's 310 yards (219 passing, 91 rushing).

Leftovers from Valpo
• Davidson went 2-3 in road games this season
• Funsten's rush attempt on the fake field goal was just the second of his career and the first since his sophomore season
• The rushing touchdown was the first of Funsten's career, giving him 21 total so far in his career
