Jake Cohen Named SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Davidson forward Jake Cohen has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games played Jan. 10-16, the league office announced today.
It is the second consecutive week Cohen has won the award and the third time he has claimed the honor this season. The 6-foot-10 junior averaged 23.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games last week as the Wildcats picked up league wins over Western Carolina (88-67) and Appalachian State (83-79).
Cohen entered Thursday's game against Western Carolina with 987 points and scored Davidson's first 13 points of the game to reach 1,000 for his career. He finished the game with 26 points and six rebounds. Saturday afternoon at Appalachian State, Cohen tallied 21 points and seven rebounds.
Cohen shot 67 percent from the field (16-of-24) and made 5-of-7 3-point attempts last week. He was 10-for-11 from the free throw line and added five assists, five blocked shots and a steal in the two games.
Cohen is averaging 21.2 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 70 percent from the field, 63 percent from 3-point range and 91 percent from the free-throw line through six league games. He is averaging 13.8 points and 6.1 rebounds on the season.
The Wildcats (12-4, 6-0 SoCon) host College of Charleston Thursday night at 7 p.m. in Belk Arena. The game will be televised live on ESPN3.
