Fisher Strikes On Rebound Goal, Sends ‘Cats to 1-0 Shutout Win

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Freshman Becca Fisher (Fredericksburg, Va.) continued her recent offensive assault by knocking in a rebound goal in the first half to help send the Davidson women's soccer team to a 1-0 shutout win against visiting Elon on Friday evening at Alumni Stadium in Southern Conference action.
The goal for Fisher was her third in the last two games and gave her a team-best four on the season.
Davidson (4-5-2, 2-1 SoCon) picked up its fourth straight win at home vs. Elon (3-5-3, 1-1-1 SoCon) the series and now has won eight of the last nine meetings.
Fisher gathered in Stephanie Piperno's (Harwinton, Conn.) shot off the cross bar and knocked in the only score of the evening in the 22nd minute. Piperno tallied her second assist in as many games.
Freshman Rachel Locke (Carlsbad, Calif.) earned her first career shutout win in stopping two shots and improving to 3-2-1 between the pipes.
The Wildcats continue their stay at home this weekend with a 2 p.m. affair on Sunday against UNCG, which won earlier in the day at Georgia Southern, 2-1.
