Czerapowicz and Mackay Wrap Up Competition at U20 European Championships

SPAIN - Current Davidson basketball players Chris Czerapowicz and Ali Mackay played for their respective countries in the 2011 U20 European Championships. The tournament, which took place in Spain, concluded yesterday.
Czerapowicz finished the tournament 11th in scoring and eighth in rebounding. He averaged 14.3 points and seven rebounds a game while shooting 41.5 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent from 3-point range in eight contests for Sweden.
The sophomore guard topped the 20-point mark in three games and had double-digit rebounds twice. He posted 23 points and nine rebounds against Greece, scored 21 points against France and tallied 20 points and seven boards vs. Montenegro.
Mackay averaged 3.7 points and 4.8 rebounds in 23.9 minutes a game in nine contests for Great Britain. The freshman forward shot 56.5 percent from the floor and knocked down his only 3-point attempt. His best contest of the tournament came against Finland, when he collected 10 points and eight rebounds.
Davidson returns 11 lettermen and four starters from the 2010-11 team, which finished 18-15 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational presented by Zebra Pen. Seven of the Wildcats' top eight scorers last season were freshmen or sophomores.
