DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson looks to send its four seniors off on a winning note in their final regular-season home game on Saturday when the Wildcats play host to American University.
The Opening Draw Control
Davidson (5-10, 4-3 NLC) finishes out the regular season with a matchup against American University (8-7) on Saturday at Richardson Stadium. Gametime is set for 1 p.m. with the team honoring its four seniors prior to the start of the game.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
Saturday's matchup will be the 11th between the two schools, with American holding an 8-2 advantage. The Eagles have won the last four contests, including last year's 10-4 decision at their place.
Last Time Out...
... Davidson — Ann Fucigna continued her torrid scoring pace with season bests of six goals and eight points, and Davidson finished out its last regular season road game at Presbyterian with an impressive 17-11 win in a women's National Lacrosse Conference contest on Wednesday afternoon at Old Bailey Stadium.
Fucigna was not alone in recording a multi-goal afternoon as fellow freshman Paige Logan and junior Erin Keitel found the back of the net three times each, and Alanna Parker pushed her consecutive goal streak to 22 straight games with a pair of scores.
Fucigna, who entered the game with a team-best 36 goals, had a hand in four of Davidson's first seven goals through the first 15 minutes of the game, and closed with four of her six total goals in the first half.
The freshman's fourth goal of the half, and her fifth point of the half, came way of a free position goal to give the 'Cats a commanding 9-3 lead at halftime. The lead grew to 15-3 in the second half.
Fucigna is just seven goals away from matching the single-season record set last year by Jen Crawford and is six points away from reaching the top-five in points for a single-season.
... American — The American University lacrosse team defeated Liberty Tuesday afternoon on Senior Day by a score of 23-3, setting new program records for most goals scored and largest margin of victory.
American's offense was led by Kimberly Collins who tied her career-high with five goals. Emily Burton, meanwhile, set a new career-best with four scores while Bernadette Maher and Chiara Speziale chipped in three goals apiece.
The Eagles jumped out to a 4-0 lead less than five minutes into the game as Collins scored back-to-back goals to open the scoring. Following a Liberty goal which made the score 4-1, American closed out the first half on a 10-0 run for a 14-1 halftime advantage.
Goalkeeper Kaska Komosinski finished with three saves for the Eagles.
