Layup Line
• The Wildcats cap the regular season with a home conference game against UNCG Saturday afternoon.
• It's the second meeting between the Wildcats and Spartans this season as UNCG posted a 77-69 home victory in the first meeting Jan. 17.
• Davidson has won eight of its last nine and is coming off an 83-75 win over Elon Thursday. The 'Cats are 8-2 in their last 10 overall.
• Davidson coach Bob McKillop is one win shy of his 400th career victory.
• Davidson is locked into fourth place in the SoCon South Division and will play the fifth-place team in the North Division in the upcoming SoCon Tournament.
• The opponent will either be UNCG or Elon as both are tied for fourth in the North. Elon owns the tiebreaker by virtue of sweeping the regular-season series against the Spartans. A Davidson win over UNCG or an Elon win over Georgia Southern means Davidson would play UNCG. A combination of a UNCG win and an Elon loss means the Wildcats would play Elon.
• UNCG is 1-4 in its last five and coming off a 57-56 victory at Georgia Southern Thursday.
• The Spartans are 3-10 on the road and 3-5 in road league games.
• Brandon Evans leads UNCG in scoring, averaging 11.6 points a game, and Trevis Simpson, who netted 33 against the Wildcats in the first game, averages 11.2 points.
• The Spartans have played the 12th-toughest non-conference schedule in the country, according to KenPom.com. That slate includes games against ACC schools Florida State, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Maryland, Wake Forest, Duke and Miami.
Big Day in Belk
• It's Senior Day, and Davidson will honor student director of operations Billy Thom as well as guard Brendan McKillop and forward Ben Allison prior to the game.
• Davidson is also celebrating the Men of the Lefty Driesell Years and Mike Maloy '70 with a reunion this weekend.
• Charles “Lefty” Driesell along with many of his former players, including Terry Holland '64, Jerry Kroll '70, Fred Hetzel '65 and Dick Snyder '66, and assistant coaches and support staff are back on campus and will be honored at halftime of today's game.
• The weekend includes a special remembrance and celebration of the life of Mike Maloy '70, Davidson's first African-American varsity scholarship athlete who Driesell called “the greatest player I ever coached.”
• On the court, Maloy led the Wildcats to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including two straight Elite Eight runs, and off the court, he was a pioneer who used his prominence as a national basketball star to improve race relations both on campus and in the Town of Davidson community.
• The college has established a permanent tribute to Maloy that will reside in the Nisbet Lobby of the Baker Sports Complex. It will be on display for the first time at today's game.
• In addition, the college, with the leadership of several of Maloy's former teammates and fraternity brothers, has committed to a $1-million fundraising effort to establish the Mike Maloy Basketball Scholarship.
Series History
• Davidson leads the all-time series 20-8 and has won nine of the last 10, but the Spartans posted a 77-69 victory in the season's first meeting.
• The series began with a 69-68 Wildcat road win in 1998.
• The 'Cats are 10-2 against the Spartans at home, and all 28 games in the series have come during Bob McKillop's tenure.
• Trevis Simpson scored 33 points off the bench, and UNCG shot 59 percent in the second half in the last meeting.
• JP Kuhlman scored 19 points to lead the Wildcats, and Jake Cohen posted 16 points and eight rebounds. Nik Cochran scored 10 points off the bench.
• Simpson was 12-for-15 from the floor, 4-of-6 from 3-point land and 5-for-5 from the free-throw line for the Spartans. Aaron Brackett finished with 11 points and eight boards.

• The Wildcats led 35-28 at halftime and had a 10-point cushion early in the second half. Trailing by seven, the Spartans erupted for a 20-4 run to open a 58-49 advantage with 9:50 remaining. Simpson scored nine points, while Davidson committed five turnovers during the stretch.
• The margin ballooned to 13 points before Davidson made a run late in the contest. A 6-2 run, capped by a Tom Droney layup, made the score 73-67 with 39 seconds left. But the Spartans broke out of the 'Cats' press, and Brendan McKillop was whistled for an intentional foul trying to take away the easy layup.
• Brackett made 1-of-2 from the line and was fouled again on the Spartans' ensuing possession. He hit 1-of-2, making the margin eight points with 34 seconds left and putting the game away.
• Kuhlman scored 14 points to lead Davidson to a 60-56 victory over UNCG in the last meeting in Belk Arena, last February.

• Davidson won its home opener for the 19th consecutive season.
• The Wildcats opened SoCon play with two games in Charleston for the second-straight campaign.
• Davidson's 83-56 win over Georgia Southern Feb. 16 was its largest margin of victory in a league win since the 'Cats topped the Eagles 99-56 at home Feb. 28, 2009.
• The Wildcats' 80-52 loss at No. 24 Vanderbilt Jan. 2, was their worst loss since a 75-47 setback at then eighth-ranked Duke in 2006.
