
'Cats Close Regular Season With Senior Day Game vs. Wofford on Sunday

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson finishes out its regular season and three-game homestand with a contest on Sunday at John M. Belk Arena against Wofford as part of its Senior Day.
The Opening Tip
Davidson (12-16, 7-12 SoCon) seeks to gain some momentum heading into next weekend's conference tournament when they host Wofford (7-20, 3-16 SoCon) on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.
Senior Day
Sunday's game marks the final home contests for seniors Ashley Lax and Chloe Woodington as they will be honored prior to the start of the game.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
The all-time series has Davidson holding a commanding 24-12 lead after winning the first meeting this year. The 'Cats have won 17 of the past 19 meetings overall.
In the first meeting this season, Sophia Aleksandravicius tallied a double-double in the first half on her way to game highs of 26 points and 13 rebounds, and Davidson scored its biggest road win in the all-time series vs. Wofford, cruising to an 80-50 victory.
Scouting the Wildcats
•Davidson could not erase an 11-point second-half deficit, despite cutting it to two, in falling to Furman on Monday, 62-57. The 'Cats were swept in the season-series.
•The Wildcats got to within two, 47-45, with 7:37 left in the game behind a 14-5 run, but that was as close as they would get the rest of the way.
•Senior Ashley Lax (8 ppg) scored in double figures for the ninth time with a game-high 16 points. The senior is now 39 points away from reaching the 1,000-point barrier.
•Laura Murray (2nd on team- 11.9 ppg) pushed her scoring consecutive double-figure streak at home to nine straight with 10 points.
•She is averaging nearly 15 points a game at home and has three 20-point outings in Belk Arena.
•Sophia Aleksandravicius (16.6 ppg-3rd in SoCon) had her third game in a row with 10-plus rebounds, hauling in an even 10 vs. Furman. She leds the league with an 9.0 average.
•The sophomore has registered double-doubles in four of her last seven games and is averaging
a double-double (14.7 ppg/12.4 rpg), while hauling in 10-plus boards in six of past seven games.
•Aleksandravicius holds the all-time record in blocks with 134 as well as the single-game (7) and single-season records (89 and counting). She is 9th in the nation in blocks per game (3.2)
•The sophomore set the single-season record for made field goals on Monday (176) and is closing in on a few other single-season records: points (465- 488 record), free throws made (109-111) and rebounds (251- 288).
•Barbara Sitton's career-best 112 assists are the 7th-most in a single-season.
•The Wildcats are 7-6 at home, the 10th year in a row they will have a winning record at home.
•In last year's meeting in Davidson, Aleksandravicius led four players in double figures with 26 points off the bench and the 'Cats rolled to a 90-68 win. They exploded for 52-second half points and the 90 points scored were the second-most by Davidson in the all-time series.
•The Wildcats are 13-3 at home in the all-time series, compared to 9-8 on the road.
Scouting the Terriers
•Wofford fell for the fifth straight time, and 12th time in the last 13 games, on Monday with a 68-58 setback at home to Western Carolina. The Terriers finished 6-10 at home.
•Rachel Brittenham paced the Wofford attack with 16 points on 11-of-12 free throws and set a single-season school record with 12 steals. The double-double was the second of her career.
•April Moorhouse and Kelly Blake also reached double figures with 14 and 11 points.
•Moorhouse leads Wofford with an 11.4 ppg average, followed by Mahagony Williams at 11.3.
•Williams in third in the conference in rebounding at 8.5 rpg. She had nine boards and 10 points last time vs. the Wildcats, Jan. 22.
•Wofford is just 1-10 on the road, 1-8 vs. SoCon.
•The Terriers are 1-4 in their last five road games.
•Four Terriers reach double figures in last year's game at Davidson, with Maddie Helms going for 18.
•Woffords led the SoCon in blocks per game at 5.6, with four players recording 12 or more blocks on the year. Williams had a team-best 55.
•The Terriers, were picked to finish 11th in the league's preseason poll as voted on by the coaches.
•Head coach Edgar Farmer is in his seventh year at Wofford and has totaled 54 wins.
