DAVIDSON, N.C. — Sophomore Alanna Parker (Spring Valley, Calif.) pushed her consecutive goal streak to 11 straight games with a pair of scores, but Davidson was unable to come back from a 9-3 halftime deficit in falling to Virginia Tech on Wednesday evening at Richardson Stadium in women's lacrosse action.

Parker led the Wildcat (0-3) attack with two goals, giving her a team-best seven on the season. She has tallied three straight multi-goal games to open the year. Parker also matched Lindsay Cooper (Baltimore, Md.) with four draw controls, giving her 13 in the last two games. Davidson had a 12-9 edge in draw controls overall.

Freshman Erin Doherty (Cincinnati, Ohio) and junior Erin Keitel (Carlsbad, Calif.) matched Parker with two points each, getting a goal and assist apiece. Doherty has a team-best three assists on the season.

Virginia Tech's Jessica Nonn added to her team-leading seven goals on the year with four, while Allie Emala, Morgan Widlake, Shannon Bone and Julia Heaps all followed with two goals each. Nonn also led the Hokies with three draw controls, and Widlake and Emala had two apiece.

After Tech (3-0) raced out to a 4-0 lead eight minutes into the start of the game, Jenna Mugele (Baltimore, Md.) got the 'Cats on the board with an assist from Keitel at the 16:36 mark.

Later, after two Hokie scores, Parker and Doherty cut the lead down to three, 6-3, with back-to-back scores and 9:07 left in the period. Doherty also assisted Parker's goal, which was started by Mugele, who passed to Doherty on the left side of the goal and the ball was quickly fired into Parker, who was racing into the middle for a bang-bang play and quick goal.

From there, it was all Virginia Tech as it closed the half on a 3-0 run. The Hokies then opened the second half with three goals in a one-minute span for a 12-3 lead. Heaps, who closed the first half with a goal, started the goal spurt and was followed by Brooke Martin and Nonn.

Keitel netted the 'Cats last goal on a free position shot with one second left for the final of 15-5. It was only first position goal of the night for either team as there were only a total of four taken.

Jessica Melby (Pittsburgh, Pa.) stopped six of Virginia Tech's 32 shots on the night and led the Wildcats with three groundballs.

Tech's Alex Gale played all 60 minutes and was credited with three saves in getting her third win of the season.

Davidson, in the midst of playing six of its first eight games at home, will host California on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 12 p.m.
