DAVIDSON, N.C. — Looking to conclude its 2011 regular season the way it started it with a win, the Davidson women's soccer team will play host to Georgia Southern on Wednesday evening at Alumni Stadium in a Southern Conference match.
The Matchup
Davidson seeks to keep its hold on fourth place in the league standings with a regular season finale against Georgia Southern on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in front of its home crowd at Alumni Stadium.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
Davidson holds a 17-8-1 record all-time in the series, which dates back to 1993. The Wildcats are 3-0-1 in the last four meetings, including last year's 1-1 draw at Georgia Southern to finish out the 2010 regular season. During head coach Greg Ashton's seven years, the 'Cats are 6-1-1 vs. the Eagles.

Davidson as a team is third in the league with 32 goals ... the Wildcats are 5-4-2 at home this year ... they have won their last three straight, and four of their last five total ... goalkeeper Rachel Locke ranks second in the league in goals against average at 0.99 ... she has a 7-5-1 record between the pipes with 55 saves ... her three ties are tied for third-most in the SoCon ... head coach Greg Ashton is 13 wins away from 100 for his career while at Davidson ... this marks the fifth straight year the 'Cats end the regular season with a match vs. the Eagles.

Georgia Southern (6-9-2, 4-5-1 SoCon) earned a spot in the SoCon Tournament despite losing on Sunday to Samford as both Wofford and The Citadel took defeats to eliminate them ... the Eagles qualified for the postseason for the first time since 2006 ... they will be seeded seventh in the tournament and travel for a first round match against UNCG or College of Charleston ... GSU is 3-6-1 on the road this year ... Courtney Collins paces the Eagle offense with seven goals and 15 points ... Sara Oland has a team-best seven assists and second on the team with 13 points ... goalkeeper Katie Merson has started 13 of her 14 games ... she owns a 1.15 goals against average allowing just 15 goals and picking up 62 saves ... the Eagles' last win at Davidson came in 2006, when they upset the Wildcats in the SoCon quarterfinals, 1-0 ... head coach Lindsey Vanderspiegel is in her first season after assisting at Hofstra the last four years ... the Eagles return eight starters and 16 letterwinners from last year's 5-12-1 team.
