Davidson Draws West Virginia in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off

ESPN Regional Television announced today the first-round matchups for the 2010 Puerto Rico Tip-Off, and Davidson will face 2010 Final Four participant West Virginia Thursday, Nov. 18, at 11:30 a.m. on ESPNU.

The fourth annual event will be held Nov. 18, 19 and 21 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in the cosmopolitan Hato Rey district of San Juan, and nine of the 12 games will be televised live nationally on ESPNU and ESPN.

The Wildcats and Mountaineers last met in 2008 at the Jimmy V Classic in Madison Square Garden, when Stephen Curry led Davidson to a 68-65 win with 27 points and 10 assists. The 'Cats held West Virginia to 33 percent shooting from the floor in that game.

West Virginia leads the all-time series 18-16 against their former Southern Conference rivals. Prior to the 2008 contest, Davidson had not played West Virginia since the 1994 Postseason NIT.

In addition to Davidson and West Virginia, the field for Puerto Rico Tip-Off comprises five- time national champion North Carolina, Hofstra, Minnesota, Nebraska, Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky. Each team will compete in one game per day, advancing through a bracket-tournament format.
